The flickering stops if the code has a delay, or the code comes to an end. No other LEDs flicker, it's always the same one, even with different sketches. Running the exact same sketches on an Arduino is fine - no flickering.

Tight enough that FastLED disables interrupts while it is writing out led data. This means that while the led data is being written out, any interrupts that happen will be delayed until all the led data is written out.
